Mission Statement:
We exist to unite people
Who have been divided by religion
By seeking our common path to God.
Vision
We envision a world where people of faith will lay down the labels that divide, and will unite around loving God and loving our neighbors.
Who we are
The Common Path Alliance is a group of partners dedicated to joining the worldwide movement of God in linking diverse communities in order to discover our shared bonds and mutual goals.
Plan of Action
We seek to catalyze the global movement of God among Muslims and Christians by interfacing with and coordinating the efforts of key individuals and organizations dedicated to this cause. This alliance will provide education, resources, tools and will support communities in the United States and around the world that are focused on the centrality of the life and work of Jesus (Isa) as evidenced in both the Bible and the Qur’an. We can accomplish more together than we can individually. We also seek to initiate dialogues of peace between Muslims and Christians built on trust and mutual understanding as we foster relationships developed around the clear message of Jesus (Isa) and the Kingdom of God.
A Defining Moment in Time
For the first time in 1400 years, respected scholars, clerics and intellectuals from around the Muslim world and from every school of thought in Islam unanimously came together to declare the common ground between Islam and Christianity. The final result of their labor was a letter addressed to Christians everywhere called “A Common Word Between Us and You” where they showed the driving force of belief that Muslims and Christians share in common. In this Common Word document they declared:
“Muslims and Christians together make up well over half of the world’s population. Without peace and justice between these two religious communities, there can be no meaningful peace in the world. The future of the world depends on peace between Muslims and Christians. The basis for this peace and understanding already exists. It is part of the very foundational principles of both faiths: love of the One God, and love of the neighbor. These principles are found over and over again in the sacred texts of Islam and Christianity. The Unity of God, the necessity of love for Him, and the necessity of love of the neighbor is thus the common ground between Islam and Christianity.”
This historic moment in October of 2007 marks a new openness to dialogue between the East and the West. The Common Path Alliance seeks to continue building bridges of unity based on our common belief in loving God and loving our neighbor.
