IHSAN COLAK
Ihsan is an artist from Turkey who specializes in the Turkish art of Ebru-Marbling. Ebru is a type of painting that takes place on the surface of water. Traditional Turkish Art Marbling is a method of making patterned paper by transferring color from the surface of a liquid to paper. The traditional manner of marbling paper is often called "Turkish" marbling or ebru because it originated in the old Ottoman empire of the 15th century. Ihsan’s art often portrays the tulip, which is representative of God in Ottoman art.  This is because the Arabic letters in the word “Allah” are the same letters used to write the Turkish word for tulip,“Lale” in the Ottoman alphabet.  The tulip is also a single flower that comes from a single bulb signifying unity. Ihsan is committed to peaceful reconciliation between Muslims and Christians.
